David L. Lewis
David L. Lewis is an associate in the San Diego office of Artiano Shinoff and represents both private companies and public entities in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.
Mr. Lewis’s practice involves litigating lawsuits in the courts, as well as providing advice and counsel to firm clients on a variety of legal needs. In the litigation context, Mr. Lewis handles the defense of employment-related matters, as well as the defense of personal injury and products liability claims. In his advisory role, Mr. Lewis provides counsel to corporations and public entities with regard to their employment practices, workplace investigations, terminations and layoffs, land use concerns, and general legal advice.
Prior to joining Artiano Shinoff, Mr. Lewis spent the majority of his legal career as an employment law attorney in Orange and Los Angeles counties, gaining substantial litigation experience in state and federal courts handling matters related to wrongful termination, employment discrimination, and Labor Code violations.
Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Lewis served as a legislative aide and speechwriter to Senator Norm Coleman in the United States Senate in Washington, D.C. In this role, Mr. Lewis drafted legislation related to labor and employment, health care, and tax issues, as well as speeches regarding these topics.
Mr. Lewis graduated magna cum laude from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California. During his time at Western State, Mr. Lewis served as Managing Editor of the Western State University Law Review and traveled to competitions throughout the United States as a member of the law school’s Honors Moot Court team. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Lewis received a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
