Education Team Scores Win For Encinitas USD

Partners Jack M. Sleeth, Jr. and Paul V. Carelli IV, successfully represented the Encinitas Union School District at trial in a case where plaintiff parents claimed that the yoga taught in schools was religious, and thus unconstitutional.  Yoga was provided by trained instructors from the Jois Foundation twice a week as part of a health and wellness program the District provided. San Diego Superior Court Judge John S. Meyer ruled in Sedlock v. Baird/Encinitas Unified School District that the District’s program passes constitutional muster and is exercise, not religious indoctrination.  The case was handled on a pro-bono basis by Stutz Artiano’s Education Legal Team.  For further information on the firm’s Education Legal Team, contact Daniel R.
